My Patent Mistakes
It was around 1994, I had just finished moving to the United States, and I was learning how to use the internet, a little later I heard President Clinton had passed a new patent law that would help small inventors like us, it was called the Provisional Patent, with no research I filed the provisional patent, and since the law allowed I started claiming patent pending on my invention, and also started soliciting some companies in the United States, and outside.
Suddenly all negotiations with the companies stopped, and I just moved on. After I learned how to do a patent search and later with the internet giving me access to amazing patent databases like the one in the United States Patent Office, I found my invention was fully covered in a patent issued in 1969. I printed the patent and I have on my wall until today with the letters LEARN LEARN LEARN all over it.
More mistakes, coming soon...
And in case you are wondering I still have a sealed enveloped that I mailed to myself with another patent also back in 1994, which some books called "Poor's Man Patent" it has no value, but it is a good reminder of my path in the world of intellectual properties.
